Before the Spring

calligraphy exhibition", our city female painter Zhang Xiuping painting
the sheep as the theme of the paintings, especially popular by the visitors of
all ages, under her brush, the sheep body is fat and vivid, sheep wool is distinct,
this reporter recently interviewed a female painter Zhang Xiuping by painting
sheep celebrate the year of the sheep.

admitted that she is professional painter and devoted to painting fine
brushwork sheep, she has studios in Datong and Beijing. She said in the
painting of a sheep, out of painting ten years effort, she has painted nearly
forty years, specializing in painting sheep for ten years.

Zhang Xiuping said
her childhood loves painting, also love gentle animal, flower and bird painting
and landscape painting in her early years, also painted the Yungang Buddha,
from the day she picked up a brush for painting, showing extraordinary
understanding. In her view, painting is no pollution of the "green
landscape", is a piece of grass in the art palace, she paints her favorite
picture by the brush in hands, to express own preferences, but also express own
feelings. In order to achieve the artistic breakthrough, in 2006, Zhang Xiuping
enrolled in the Beijing Academy of painting research classes, her teacher Mo
Komatsu saw her sheep, she painted horns curled up big sheep, naive, lovely,
she painted the goat, vividly portrayed, so the teacher advised her to draw
sheep more.
Zhang Xiuping also
felt that painting sheep handy, especially in the background of the society in
the traditional agriculture, the "sheep" as the quite common livestock
for peasant family, especially popular, but sheep also carrying art, represents
beautiful. The regular script of "beauty", that is "sheep"
and "large" word combinations. “Sheep” and “large” are beautiful,
which is the embodiment of the aesthetic tendency of the ancients.

She has looked for
a way, and later specialized in fine brushwork sheep painting. In order to draw
good sheep, she went to the countryside to see sheep, sketch and paint. In
order to observe the sheep, sometimes she stayed in the sheep house for more
than half a day. Later, Zhang Xiuping went to Beijing to meet a lot of friends
in the painting circles, and learned a lot of painting techniques and skills.
She said, in order to draw a good picture, sometimes ten days and a half month
not to go out, and her painting is also getting better, under the brush of
sheep or standing or lying, or walking, or sitting, special charm, and the
sheep and the vast cosmic background form a single unit. Her work "Five
Sheep Gully in Autumn" won the excellence award of “2012 Wu Guanzhong Art
Museum and the national China painting exhibition" of Chinese Artists Association;
“Kindness" won the 2012 "Fairview central China painting exhibition
excellence award of Chinese Artists Association.
In the tradition
of Zhang Xiuping fine brushwork painting world, she tried to leave the
exploration and innovation of the mark in the composition, color, line drawing
and other aspects, trying to express the praise of the sheep of life, to bring
the audience a fresh and elegant and meaningful artistic enjoyment.
